Most directories are a snapshot. Someone lists a few hundred tools, the list is accurate for a month, and then it quietly rots — dead links, prices that changed a year ago, products that shut down. The list stays up because taking it down is work too.

How this one works

New tools are discovered continuously from public sources: Show HN, GitHub, Reddit, RSS feeds, and direct submissions from makers. Each candidate is fetched, screenshotted and checked against everything already listed so the same product cannot appear twice.

Every candidate is then scored for quality, safety and substance. Tools that clearly clear the bar publish automatically. Borderline cases go to a review queue for a person to look at. Tools that fail are rejected and recorded, so the same low-quality submission does not come back around.

Once a listing is live it is re-crawled on a schedule. Dead links, changed pricing and abandoned projects get caught and corrected rather than left to mislead you.

On generated descriptions

Some listing copy is assembled automatically. It is drawn from each product’s own public pages — never invented — and every generated field records where it came from and when, so it can be checked and corrected. If you spot something wrong about your product, tell us and it gets fixed.

How this is paid for

Listing is free and stays free. Ranking in the directory reflects community votes, click-through and recency — it cannot be bought.

The Arena is the exception, and it is deliberately separate: it is a board where placement is openly bought, it is not indexed by search engines, and its links are marked as paid. Keeping the two apart is what lets the directory stay honest.

Every page has a Markdown twin — add .md to any URL. There is a llms.txt, an OpenAPI spec, a free read API and an RSS feed. If you are building something that needs this data, take it.
