About this tool

Most free QR generators encode a link to their own domain that redirects to yours, so they can count the scans — which means your code stops working the day they shut down or start charging. This encodes your URL directly. There is no redirect, no account, and nothing to expire.

  • Downloads at 1024 pixels, because the usual destination for one of these is a sticker, a slide or a poster rather than a web page.
  • Error correction trades capacity for damage tolerance. Medium is the right default; use High only if you are placing a logo over the middle.
  • Keep the foreground dark and the background light. Scanners rely on that contrast, and inverted or pale codes are the most common reason one will not read.
  • Generated in your browser. The URL you encode is never sent to us, and no scan of it is ever counted by us.

Questions

Do these QR codes expire?
No. Your URL is encoded directly into the pattern, so the code works for as long as your URL does. Codes that expire are the ones pointing at a third party’s redirect.
What error correction level should I use?
Medium for almost everything. It recovers from about 15% damage and keeps the pattern reasonably sparse. Choose High if a logo will cover part of the code.
Can I track scans?
Not with a direct code, and that is the trade. If you need scan counts, encode a URL you control with UTM parameters on it and read them in your own analytics.
